The basic concept of rooting your phone is that you have essentially “God-Mode” over your phone via Superuser. Manufacturers, try as they may, don’t always succeed in improving on previous products. Case-in-point – Motorola Atrix2  – not sure exactly what the upgrade is. Actually, it seems like a bit of a downgrade in several areas.

Not so with the Samsung Galaxy Tab P6800 – a direct upgrade from the Samsung Galaxy Tab P1000. Wow- what an amazing device. Starting with the new form factor, the P6800 is a full 50% thinner (.31 vs .47 inches) with a larger screen (7.7 vs 7.0), and much lighter (11.82 vs 13.4 ounces). But these wonderful upgrades are just half the story.

Turning on the device, you are witness to Samsung’s world-famous SuperAmoled HD display, at an astounding 800 x 1280 resolution. This gives you tons of screen real-estate, with all the clarity and brightness you could want.

Thanks to the great Samsung developer support @ xda-developers.com, we are able to root the Samsung Tab P6800,  and install a Clockwork Mod Recovery image as well, giving our users the best experience on the unit.

Most amazingly, of course, is the long-overdue telephony support – a first of it’s kind on a Honeycomb device.  Coupled with blazing-fast AT&T 3G/4G H+ as well as root access, this device is one-of-a kind, and definitely a worthy upgrade to the great Samsung Tab P1000.

We have reviewed the new Atrix 2 with Root & some upgrades on it – wow – nice phone.

The larger screen does not make this unit uncomfortable in the least – it actually feels nice and tight in your hand, balanced perfectly as well. Materials are top notch, with a rubberized-feeling non-slip back, and a nice gun-metal finished bezel. The new Android 2.3.5 is quick and smooth, and the screen is bright and clear. Certainly a nice upgrade for Atrix users.

Rooting the device has some great benefits, as well. We focused on the following three features:

1. Removal of Carrier IQ Software (which is currently logging your keystrokes on your phone!)

2. Adding Native Wifi Tether – This enables you to activate WiFi Tether without the unit checking-in with AT&T!

3. Removal of any Bloatware. Using root / titanium backup, you can safely remove any bloatware on your device.

HTC Vivid - Rooted & Upgraded

The HTC Vivid is a gem of a phone – one covered in a layer of coal inches thick. Without root, clockworkmod, unlocked bootloader, the device was just a huge bloatware machine for AT&T, and an embarrassment for HTC.
